Upper Sapey Edith Silcock Memorial Village Hall

About Us

The Hall

At a parish meeting in 1953 a proposal was adopted to build a village hall on land given by Sir Francis Winnington. An estimate for £1,250 was accepted, and the hall named The Edith Silcock Memorial Hall, ‘in appreciation of services to the parish of the late headmistress1, was officially opened by Sir Francis Winnington2 in 1956.

2 Sir Francis Winnington, 6th Baronet, late the Welsh Guards, landowner, of Stanford Court, Worcester, died 26 April, 2003. He was 95.
