Upper Sapey Edith Silcock Memorial Village Hall

Welcome to Upper Sapey Village Hall

UPPER SAPEY VILLAGE HALL URGENTLY NEEDS YOU!!

Back in the 1950’s the Edith Silcock Memorial Hall (also called Upper Sapey Village Hall) was erected for the use of local inhabitants. Back then few people owned televisions or telephones and could become very isolated, in such rural areas. Digital Social media, as we know it today, was none existent. At that time the hall was well utilised and was a vitally important place for meeting up, holding dances, whist drives, bingo, quiz nights etc.

Seventy plus years later it’s a very different story. The hall is underutilised and is un-used for large amounts of time.

Upper Sapey Village hall has Wi-Fi, a fully functional kitchen – including a dishwasher and 4 door electric oven – crockery, and cutlery, seating for up to 100 people and a recently refurbished bar area.

At the Village Hall AGM held recently the future of the hall was discussed and each of the committee members aired their concerns for the continuation of the hall. We all work hard and a considerable amount of time in generating income to keep the hall open and in good condition for anyone who wishes to hire it. However we are very aware that, unless we gain more interest from people wanting to hire the facility, to arrange events, we are rapidly approaching a time when we are keeping the hall in good condition for the sake of doing so only. This is clearly not good from both financial or time aspects.

Please will you help us save our village hall?
